Peugeot debuts the 408 fastback crossover in the GCC

The 408 can be had in two trims with prices starting from AED 124,900

Last month, French carmaker Peugeot held an exclusive online launch of its all-new 408 crossover. Limited to 15 units, all were “Alawel” first limited edition trims, and the company reportedly sold all units out within the first 90 minutes of its web launch. In case you missed out, the brand now debuts the 408 fastback crossover in the Middle East.

With the “Alawel” first limited edition trims all called for, the standard Peugeot 408 can be had in two trims – Allure and GT with prices starting from AED 124,900. Peugeot claims the 408 is the first of its kind, both in the history of the brand itself and in the car market, courtesy of its fastback silhouette and feline stance.

The Peugeot 408’s design language incorporates fang-shaped LED lights at the front and three-claw LED lights at the rear, complemented with sharp lines across the car and a body-coloured grille that makes it stand out.

With a long wheelbase measuring 2.79m, the 408 offers a spacious cabin with generous legroom and 536 litres of boot space. The dashboard sees the fitment of the latest generation of PEUGEOT’s renowned i-Cockpit featuring a compact steering wheel and two 10-inch digital units comprising the instrument cluster and the infotainment system.

Powering the Peugeot 408 is a 1.6-litre turbo engine with an 8-speed automatic gearbox to put out 215hp. Safety is considered paramount in the new Peugeot 408 and hence comes embedded with Adaptive Cruise Control, blind spot monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Keep Assist driver assistance systems.

“Unexpected from every angle, the new PEUGEOT 408 has been designed for lovers of cars and of life, who want to break free from the traditional while seeking responsible pleasure. It embodies PEUGEOT’s exacting technological standards – controlled efficiency and a very high-level digital experience – as well as the intense emotions of instinctive driving pleasure,” says Linda Jackson, CEO of the PEUGEOT Brand.

The All-new Peugeot 408 is now available in all markets across the GCC.
