Patek Philippe unveils the 5236P-010 In-Line Perpetual Calendar

An iconic perpetual calendar, now with a new vintage-inspired dial.

Patek Philippe has unveiled a new dial version of the 5236P In-Line Perpetual Calendar at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024.

First launched in 2021 as the reference 5236P-001 featuring a blue dial with a black-gradient rim in a platinum case (remains in their catalogue), Patek Philippe re-introduces this reference as 5236P-010 featuring a “vintage-inspired opaline rose-gilt dial enhanced by charcoal gray white gold hands and applied hour-markers.”  Patek Philippe’s heritage and expertise in grand complication timepieces is second to none, and the 5236P-010 In-Line Perpetual Calendar continues this legacy.

Functions and Dial

The 5236P-010 In-Line Perpetual Calendar’s functions:

– Hours and Minutes.

– In-line perpetual calendar display positioned above the centre of the dial. These include days of the week, date, and months.

– Aperture for leap year indicator near the 4 o’clock baton hour-marker.

– Aperture for day and night indicator near the 8 o’clock baton hour-marker.

– Subdial at 6 o’clock displays moon phase and small seconds.

It has an opaline rose-gilt dial. The charcoal gray faceted baton-style hours and minutes hands and the 11 faceted baton-style hour-markers are all crafted in white gold.

Calibre

The 5236P-0-10 In-Line Perpetual Calendar is powered by in-house mechanical ultra-thin self-winding calibre 31-260 PS QL, that features three patents for “the innovations embedded in the mechanism driving the fully in-line perpetual calendar displays.”  It has a diameter of 34 mm and a thickness of 5.8 mm. It comprises of 503 parts, beats at a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations/hour or 4 Hz and has a power reserve of 38 hours (minimum) to 48 hours (maximum). It features an off-centre platinum micro-rotor. Visible through a sapphire caseback, the Patek Philippe Seal hallmarks calibre 31-260 PS QL.

Case and Strap

The 5236P-010 In-Line Perpetual Calendar’s case is crafted in hand-polished platinum and features a brilliant-cut diamond set discreetly at 6 o’clock, a Patek Philippe signature for their timepieces crafted in platinum. It has a case diameter of 41.30 mm and a case thickness of 11.07 mm. It is water resistant up to 30 metres. Though the calibre is visible via a sapphire caseback, an interchangeable solid platinum caseback is provided as well.

It comes with a shiny chocolate-brown alligator leather strap, hand-stitched and featuring square scales, and a fold-over clasp crafted in platinum.
