‘Maharaja Club Points Plus’. That’s the name of the offer that Air India has created. While that may sound confusing, and no one would argue, it is worth knowing for all those frequent flyers. The idea is simple: convert the bank points earned through credit/debit cards to boost the Maharaja Club points tally. Those can be settled to redeem award flights and cabin upgrades on Air India and other Star Alliance member airlines.
So, how does it work? First, and foremost, one must be a Maharaja Club member. Even if you’re not, enrol by filling out a straightforward form on the airline’s official website. Once that is in order, the conversion of points can be initiated to earn a maximum of 200,000 Maharaja Points per eligible bank. Which banks? ICICI, HDFC, DBS, and SBI.

What can those points get you in return? Here are a few examples:
- Four one-way tickets from Delhi to Dubai.
- Five one-way tickets from Mumbai to London.
- One round trip from Delhi and New York (Economy).
- Ten round trips from Delhi to Mumbai (Economy).
Of course, there are a few terms and conditions. For Bonus Points (explained below), members must register for the offer via the Air India website. Once done, at least 5,000 Maharaja Points per eligible bank must be converted per transaction. Bonus Points, which vary depending on the points converted, will be credited to the member’s account within 60 days after the offer expires on March 31, 2025.
Only the first transaction per eligible bank will qualify for the Bonus Points. For example, say someone performs two conversion transactions, one from HDFC and the other from ICICI. In that case, both transactions will be eligible for Bonus Points. However, if both transactions have the same bank, say ICICI, the user will only be eligible for Bonus Points for the first transaction. Only bank points accumulated against select cards can be converted. Learn about that here.
