What is the new Tangente neomatik Update 38 Forest Green?
It is a deep green dial version of the Tangente neomatik Update 38 that was unveiled during Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026. It is a reduced case size version of the Tangente neomatik Update 41. Originally launched in 2018, the Tangente neomatik Update 41 debuted the NOMOS Ring Date, a peripheral date display that frames the current date via two red markers. It won the Challenge Watch Prize at the 2018 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) awards ceremony held in Geneva.
What are its dial features?

Deep green dial. Hands are rhodium plated. Hour-markers, both Arabic numerals and indices (and on the recessed small seconds subdial), are silver coloured. Date numerals are white.
“Deep, calm, and refined, the new dial colour of Tangente neomatik 38 Update forest green complements the clean geometry of Tangente while providing an elegant setting for the watch’s signature Update complication. Two red markers frame the current date on the ring positioned around the dial’s perimeter, creating a distinctive visual contrast that draws the eye and rewards closer inspection.”
What are its case and strap features?

The Tangente straight case with angled lugs is made from stainless steel, measuring 38.5 mm (diameter) * 7.4 mm (thickness). Lug to lug distance: 47.3 mm. Dial side and caseback feature sapphire crystals, the former with anti-reflective coating. Water resistant up to 5 ATM (splash proof).

The watch comes with a black cordovan strap from Horween Genuine Sheel, an American company. It is fitted with a rounded winged clasp (another name for a pin buckle) made from stainless steel. A brown cordovan strap from Horween Genuine Sheel, a deployant clasp and a stainless steel bracelet are options (more details on the brand’s website).
Is it powered by an automatic movement?

Yes. It is powered by DUW 6101, an automatic movement that drives the hours, minutes, seconds and the NOMOS Ring Date. It measures 34 mm (diameter) * 3.6 mm (thickness), comprises 42 jewels and has a power reserve of 50 hours.
“The in-house calibre DUW 6101 at work within Tangente neomatik 38 Update is elaborately polished and decorated – with Glashütte ribbing on the three-quarter plate, NOMOS perlage on the base plate, tempered blue screws, and gold-plated lettering.”
What do we think?

I was fortunate to see the Forest Green version during Watches and Wonders Geneva, held about two months ago (though NOMOS was not actively pushing it then). I really liked it. The deep green hue of its dial is a compelling alternative for those who find the white dial references a bit restrained or simply want a classic watch with a unique dial colour.

The Tangente neomatik 38 Update Forest Green has a lot going for it: a classic three hand watch adhering to “restrained Bauhaus design” principles, an innovate peripheral date system, perfect proportions, a robust and dependable in-house movement, an elegant new dial colour, and a relatively accessible price. All of this makes it a desirable watch to have.
