After opening the doors to its all-new flagship NIO House showroom in Abu Dhabi last year, NIO has announced the launch of two new EV models – the ET5 and EC6, to expand its presence in the UAE. While the new NIO ET5 is a smart, sporty sedan, the EC6 is NIO’s premium coupe SUV. Users can explore the new models at NIO House, Abu Dhabi and NIO Space, Dubai.
NIO ET5
NIO has launched the ET5 premium mid-size smart electric sedan in the UAE with a starting price of AED 199,900. NIO aims to offer a host of customisation options with its cars. On the ET5, NIO will offer five sky-themed exterior colours, six earth-inspired leather interior options and a choice between 19” Cloud wheels or 20” Gladiator wheels. For the interiors, NIO deploys a “second living room” philosophy entailing the ET5 boasts eco-friendly clean and sustainable fabric, crafted from recycled PET bottles.
It will boast features like ventilated and massage front sports seats, a smart fragrance system with an ionizer, 23 safety and driver assistance features, an immersive sound system with 23 speakers and 1,000 watts of power, a panoramic sunroof and NOMI – NIO’s AI assistant for intuitive interaction.
The NIO ET5 will be available with two battery choices – a 75 kWh or a 100 kWh battery with the latter boasting up to 615 km of range. NIO has embedded a new-generation, high-efficiency electric powertrain using SiC technology, allowing the ET5 to pull the 0-100kph sprint in just four seconds. It also features 33 high-performance sensors and cameras, including Lidar, incorporating a heightened suite of driver assistance systems.
NIO EC6
The NIO EC6 is a smart electric coupe SUV launched at a starting price of AED 239,900. The EC6’s design comprises a sleek coupe-inspired stance with invisible air vents and a dual-mode active rear spoiler. The EC6 prioritizes passenger comfort with ventilated and massaging front and rear seats, a front passenger lounge seat with a footrest, and ultra-fit comfort seats.
The NIO EC6 gets an all-wheel-drive system delivering 482hp and 700Nm torques, propelling the electric SUV from 0-100kph in 4.4secs. Two battery options will be on offer – a 75 kWh or a 100 kWh battery capacity, with the latter offering up to 550kms of claimed range. Similar to the ET5, the EC6 will have five sky-themed exterior colours, four earth-inspired Nappa leather interior options and 20” Insignia wheels or 21” Blossom wheel options.
In addition to the car launches, NIO will be launching NIO Power – a smart power service solution in Abu Dhabi imminently. NIO Power will comprise solutions such as Power Swap Stations that use patented battery swap technology to offer a charging experience in as little as three minutes. Additionally, NIO Power Home chargers are available with the purchase of NIO vehicles for the comfort of home charging.
