New McLaren GTS supercar unveiled in the Middle East

The Cornea Impression attends the private event launch

British-origin carmaker Mclaren Automotive hosted a special event at its state-of-the-art McLaren Abu Dhabi Service Centre in the capital of the United Arab Emirates to unveil the new Mclaren GTS for the first time in the Middle East. The English automaker invited an exclusive group of VIP guests, McLaren owners and select media personnel including The Cornea Impression for the event.

The new GTS is a successor to the McLaren GT supercar. It is based on the same architecture featuring lightweight carbon fibre construction centred on a unique monocoque chassis but is now lighter. At 1520 kgs, the new McLaren GTS is now the lightest car in its class. McLaren also offers an increased choice of exterior and interior specifications on the GTS compared to the GT along with an extended list of standard specifications and new exterior components comprising a tweaked front bumper and new air scoops on the car’s shoulders which receive a gloss black finish.

The 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 from the GT continues to do duty on the GTS but now puts out 14hp more, for a total output of 626hp and 630 Nm torques. The GTS can pull the 0-100kph sprint run in 3.2 seconds and continue pulling till it maxes out at 326 kph.

On the inside, the 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 7.0-inch portrait central touchscreen setup are retained from the GT. However, comfort seats are offered as standard and McLaren has devised new interior ‘schemes’ titled Performance and TechLux that combine different materials and colours to make interior customisation easier for the customer.

“We are thrilled to introduce the stunning McLaren GTS to customers in the Middle East for the first time. Offering an unrivalled blend of McLaren driving dynamics and performance alongside superior refinement and practicality, the GTS represents the best of both worlds – whether you want a true supercar driving experience, or to relax on a longer journey with luggage for a weekend away. In a region with some of the most spectacular driving roads to be found anywhere in the world, we’re sure that the GTS will deliver what our customers in the Middle East have come to expect from McLaren – an exceptional driving experience, wherever they’re going.’’ Robert Holtshausen, Market Director, Middle East & Africa.
