New Airbus Jets To Broaden Reach For Saudia Group’s Flyadeal

The deal comprises ten widebody aircraft.

Saudia Group has announced a new aircraft order from Airbus. The two parties have finalised an agreement for ten A330-900 jets to be operated by Saudia’s subsidiary, flyadeal. This marks the first time the low-cost airline will incorporate widebody aircraft into its fleet, setting the stage for new long-haul services. Additionally, flyadeal will notably lower the average age of its aircraft, resulting in the youngest fleet among budget airlines in the Middle East.

Equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the Airbus A330-900 can travel up to 7,200 nautical miles (13,300km) nonstop. It improves the travel experience through larger overhead compartments, an upgraded lighting system, and state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment and connectivity. The A330 series enjoys popularity among numerous operators worldwide; by the end of March this year, Airbus had secured over 1,800 firm orders from more than 130 operators around the globe.

Saudia Group’s new order is in addition to the 105 aircraft it placed with Airbus last year. Of the 105 jets, 54 A320neo jets will join flyadeal’s fleet, which presently comprises 37 A320 Family aeroplanes. On the other hand, Saudia operates a fleet of 93 A320 Family and A330 aircraft.
