Mercedes teases the EQE SUV

Reveal on October 16th

Mercedes is expanding its range of electric SUVs from below. So, after the very imposing and no less expensive EQS SUV, it will soon be the turn of the EQE SUV to make its debut, on October 16. The German brand has released a final teaser showing the vehicle lurking in the dark. Although it is still difficult to make out design elements, it is easy to see the similarity with the EQS SUV.

The front end, for example, features the huge, plain grille with its star pattern and the LED strip that runs the length of the vehicle. As was the case with the EQS SUV, the EQE SUV will make use of flowing lines to enhance aerodynamics, even if this means losing dynamism. Thus, the profile should appear rather sober compared to the competition which multiplies protruding edges and tense lines.

As for the rear end, the EQE SUV will feature a luminous strip like its big brother. While the exterior is still a surprise, the interior has already been fully revealed. The electric SUV will feature the optional Hyperscreen, a dashboard made up of three screens united under a glass panel of the most beautiful effect. The quality of the trim is also expected to be high, as is the case with the EQS SUV.

However, the EQE SUV is not expected to offer a seven-seat version and will remain limited to five seats. Under the bonnet, the vehicle is expected to feature the same options as the EQE sedan, with two battery sizes and a dual motor option offering four-wheel drive. Range could be up to 600 km, while AMG-badged versions will also be available.

It should also be noted that the EQE SUV is not a new model introduced to the range. It will replace an existing vehicle, the EQC, the first mass-produced electric Mercedes which had a disappointing career. The Mercedes EQE SUV will be produced during 2023 at the Mercedes plant in Tuscaloosa, USA.
