Mercedes-Maybach to provide the wheels to Space Perspective
The luxury carmaker is also in talks to integrate Maybach design elements in the spacecraft
Space travel is here and real and Space Perspective happens to be the world’s first and only carbon-neutral spaceflight experience company. This space firm aims to make space travel more accessible and safer and to engage in this pioneering spirit of sustainable advances in mobility, Mercedes-Maybach has decided to partner with Space Perspective.
The partnership between Mercedes-Maybach and Space Perspective will see the former offer all-electric vehicles as ground shuttles to explorers during spaceflight trips. These Mercedes-Maybach EV shuttles will ferry the Explorers and guests to and from Space Perspective facilities, local activities and the launch site on Florida’s Space Coast.
Additionally, talks are ongoing between both firms to integrate design elements and experiences that resonate with the Maybach brand. “Our partnership with Space Perspective allows space explorers to ride in style on the ground, and for us to extend the highest level of Maybach refinement and brand experience to the edge of space.” Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach at Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
Spaceship Neptune, the innovative spacecraft by Space Perspective, features a pressurised capsule capable of accommodating eight Explorers and a captain with a world-class travel experience complete with meal and cocktail service provided. Explorers would also benefit from overlooking our planet through the largest windows ever flown to space, Wi-Fi and lavatory services. This innovative spacecraft makes a cameo in the new Mercedes-Maybach global brand film
Courtesy of the firm’s sustainable giant SpaceBalloon technology, the Explorers’ six-hour journey to space is claimed to be a gentle one without experiencing weightlessness, heavy g-forces nor requiring any dedicated training.
Space Perspective resumes uncrewed test flights this year with an aim to commence commercial flights to space by the end of 2024. Reservations for the same are now being taken.
