Mercedes-AMG Tweaks The GLA 45 S
The updates are in the features, design and options departments.
The most potent GLA of the current generation, a.k.a Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 S 4Matic+, is also the most exciting of the bunch. However, the Germans have updated the compact SUV to make it even more desirable.
Starting with the looks, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 S 4Matic+ gains a redesigned front apron and the AMG crest on the bonnet. Furthermore, the headlamps and taillights now feature new light signatures. Also, all lighting systems are now powered by LEDs. That said, the option of Multibeam LED headlamps is available. On the sides, the unmissable wheel arch extensions are now available in the colour of the vehicle. Complementing them are 20-inch wheels with red brake callipers. The roof-mounted rear spoiler lip and the round twin tailpipe trim round off the changes on the outside.
Inside the cabin, the latest iteration of the AMG Performance steering wheel is part of the standard kit. Accompanying it is an updated MBUX infotainment system featuring AMG-specific screen design and an extended range of functions. Other features, such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, higher USB charging output and an additional USB-C port, help improve the overall package.

On the options list, there are three new light-alloy wheels – 19-inch ten-spoke, 20-inch five twin-spoke and 21-inch multi-spoke or cross-spoke. Also, buyers can choose between Bicolour Matt Black with high-gloss burnished surfaces or Bicolour Matt Black with high-gloss burnished rim flanges. The options list continues with AMG Performance seats, the combination of artificial leather and microfibre in Bahia Brown for the upholstery and open-pore lime wood in brown for the trim.
Powering the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 S 4Matic+ is a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that outputs 416hp/500Nm, which is routed to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As a result, it can hit 100kmph from nothing in 4.3 seconds and clock 270kmph flat out. No matter how you see it, those performance figures are impressive.
