Maserati launches FTributo Special Edition to honour first female F1 driver

The FTributo special edition can only be had with Levante and Ghibli models

Maria Teresa De Filippis – does that name ring a bell? For the unaware, Maria was an Italian racing driver and the first woman to race in Formula One, having done so aboard a Maserati 250F. And now, the Italian carmaker introduces a new FTributo Special Edition to pay homage to Maria Teresa De Pilippis’ legacy.

This FTributo Special Edition can only be had in Levante and Ghibli models, available in two exclusive colours – Arancio Devil and Grigio Lamiera. While the former shade of saturated orange recalls Maria’s track nickname – the “she-devil”, the latter grey paint scheme gets inspired by the racetrack or Maserati’s home where the Trident brand has reaped victories and built a reputation for itself.

Specific alloy designs have been devised for certain colours. The Arancio Devil in the Levante FTributo provides the customer with 21” Anteo wheels or 21” Titano wheels for the Ghibli FTributo in the new Grigio Opaco colour. The wheel rim details get painted cobalt blue. Opting for the Grigio Lamiera bodywork turns the wheel colour to glossy black with the details and badging finished in contrasting orange.

The cabin can be had in the same exterior shade, clubbed with cobalt blue and orange stitching. The interior upholstery comes finished in natural PienoFiore full-grain leather.

This FTributo Special Edition offers cosmetic updates with no changes made under the bonnet. The Ghibli sports sedan continues to retail with a 580hp V8 in top-spec trim and the same features in the Levante SUV too. Though surprisingly, the Ghibli can do 0-100kph in 4.3secs while the heavier Levante SUV can do the same in 4.1secs.
