Kia has provided 130 vehicles for the 2025 Australian Open, including 25 EV9s, 15 EV5s, 10 EV6s, 30 Carnival HEVs, 25 Sorento HEVs, and 25 Sportage HEVs. This is the first time electric vehicles, with either fully electric or hybrid systems, have been used exclusively at the tournament. The cars will provide players, spectators, and VIPs with safe, comfortable, and sustainable transportation around Melbourne during the AO25 tournament, which runs from January 12 to 26.
Kia has been a title partner of the AO25 for 24 years. As part of this, the brand hosted an official vehicle handover event at the Melbourne Stadium on January 8, attended by Damian Meredith, CEO of Kia Australia, Craig Tiley, Australian Open Tournament Director, and Ashleigh Barty, Australian Open champion.
With the Australian Open 2025, Kia is demonstrating its commitment to bringing all-electric and hybrid vehicles to a broader audience through the official vehicle fleet and a series of fan engagement activities. The company will showcase its all-electric EV3, EV5, EV6, and EV9 range throughout the tournament while allowing fans to engage with EV technology at key touchpoints across the Melbourne Stadium.
Kia is also introducing its new ‘What’s Next?’ campaign, featuring the Kia EV3 globally and EV5 locally, to engage with tennis fans during the Australian Open. In line with Kia’s brand philosophy of ‘Movement that Inspires’, the campaign showcases the energy and progress of the AO25 tournament while encouraging fans to take on new challenges.
Ninety Kia customers worldwide will watch the matches live and take a private tour of the Melbourne Arena. Ten teams of influencers will also attend the event as Kia guests, creating interactive content from the AO25 Australian Open while driving Kia electric vehicles through the streets of Melbourne. In another initiative, 20 children in Korea have been selected as official “Ball Kids” for the AO25 tournament. These children will also have exceptional experiences, such as being on the court with the world’s best players.
