Kia brings the Carens MPV to select MEA markets

It offers spacious seating for families along with premium entertainment features

After a successful premiere in the Indian market, Kia has decided to debut the Carens MPV to select MEA markets. The global people mover from Kia Motors has been designed to cater to modern families by offering spacious three-row passenger seating and a host of the latest infotainment features.

The Kia Carens will be offered in the MEA regions starting from the third quarter of 2022. The Carens projects itself as a designated family car, boasting the longest wheelbase in its class while also packing six airbags as standard across all trims. It will receive petrol and diesel engine options with various transmission alternatives on offer.

A modern family demands entertainment and comfort on the move, and the Carens, with its class-leading features, aims to offer the same. A Bose premium sound system with eight speakers, 64-colour mood lighting, ventilated front seats, a sunroof, and a large cabin space are features that highlight Caren’s family catering capabilities. Wireless smartphone charging with Type-C charging outlets have also been equipped.

The cabin gets draped in lighter colours to provide a sense of space. Multiple storage spaces have been offered throughout the cabin, including under-seat trays and a retractable seat back table on the second row. Assuming children would be the primary target passengers for the third row, Kia has equipped a one-touch easy electric tumble feature on its second row to ensure easy ingress and egress.

Kia has struck a striking modern-looking exterior design for its premium MPV. The Carens’ front end gets equipped with LED DRLs and chrome garnish on the grilles, while the sides make do with an SUV-like stance and plastic cladding running along the lower half of the car.

Powertrain options for the Carens might be similar to India’s variant already on sale. The engine options on the Kia Carens include a 138hp 1.4-litre turbo petrol, a 113hp 1.5-litre petrol and a 113hp 1.5-litre diesel. These engines can be mated to either a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

“The Kia Carens embodies our design philosophy and is creating a new industry benchmark for family vehicles,” said Yaser Shabsogh, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Middle East and Africa. “It successfully combines a bold design with a sophisticated personality and style, unique aesthetics, high-tech features, and safety for the whole family. We are certain that the Kia Carens will fulfill the needs of every modern family in both their daily and leisure life.”
