Jeep unveils new Avenger 4×4 Concept

The 4x4 EV features a revised front end with tow hooks and tweaked approach angles

If you’re following the 2022 Paris Motor Show, the launch of the Avenger EV – Jeep’s first all-electric offering, shouldn’t come as a surprise. Though the Jeep Avenger EV being a front-wheel-driven SUV and not a 4×4 is what may raise many eyebrows. But fret not, as the ongoing Paris Motor Show saw Jeep showcase a 4×4 iteration called the Avenger 4×4 Concept.

As the name suggests, this 4×4 iteration of the Jeep Avenger is still in the concept phase. Though the brand claims it “will be added to Jeep’s range of 4xe models coming in the future.” The recently-launched Avenger became the first front-wheel-drive Jeep to pack Selec-Terrain and Hill Descent Control as standard, but this 4×4 Concept brings the new model up to speed with Jeep’s traditional practices.

This 4×4 Concept isn’t just about sending power to all wheels but rather preparing an off-road capable car in the Jeep way. Hence, the 4×4 Concept features tow hooks, wider fenders and track and larger, more aggressive tires. The approach and departure angles improve, and so does the ground clearance exceeding 200mm.

With the anticipation of encountering uneven terrain, Jeep has beefed up protection on the front end via thicker cladding and extra built-in floodlights to improve visibility. A new lightweight roof cargo system also debuts in the Jeep 4×4 Concept, which can compress the luggage on the roof with a special belt system and has scratch-proof protection along its entire length.

Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO, said: “Here in Paris, we have shown that we have a full portfolio of new all-electric 4×4 capable Jeep models just around the corner, with a clear goal in mind: to become the number one electrified SUV brand in the world as we continue our path towards achieving our mission of Zero Emission Freedom.”
