Jeep to launch three all-new EVs by 2025

The American carmaker will continue its off-road focus with new electric technology

While the globe celebrates World EV day today, American carmaker Jeep had its preparations preplanned. A recent announcement by the SUV specialist saw the brand vow to launch as many as four all-electric SUVs by 2025. On the larger scale of things, the brand has further declared its intentions to sell electric vehicles only in Europe by 2030.

Over the years, Jeep has accumulated a reputation for developing special off-road vehicles and its forthcoming electric portfolio aims to be no different. The upcoming electrified models planned for launch are namely the Wagoneer S EV, Recon EV, Avenger EV and Wrangler 4xe.

The American automaker will transition its legendary 4×4 prowess into 4xe off-road electric technology. The brand claims the new 4xe technology will offer better performance than before, courtesy of the electric motor’s on-demand torque for superior climbing capabilities. The recently launched Wrangler 4xe hybrid off-roader already benefits from the same.

The Recon EV will be the first electric SUV to make its way to American shores, with the first public debut set for next year. Built to please off-roaders, the Recon is claimed to have “100% Jeep 4×4 and 100% zero emission” DNA. Hence, technologies such as Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-locker axle technology, under-body protection, tow hooks and aggressive off-road tires will be offered. The Recon EV will also possess a one-touch powertop, removable doors and glass for open-air freedom in the authentic Jeep tradition. As for the claimed range, Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO, commented, “The all-new, all-electric Jeep Recon has the capability to cross the mighty Rubicon Trail, one of the most challenging off-road trails in the U.S. and reach the end of the trail with enough range to drive back to town and recharge”.

The Jeep Avenger EV will be the first all-electric Jeep SUV to launch across European countries. Designed as a compact SUV, the all-new Avenger EV will be positioned beneath the Renegade SUV. It will be devised to offer 400 km of range with modern technology inside the cabin. The Jeep Avenger is set to debut at the Paris Motor Show press day, on October 17, with reservations opening for customers that same day.

Even the Wagoneer brand, Jeep’s more urban-centric luxury nameplate, will receive a shove of electrification under the new Wagoneer S guise. The fully electric SUV is set to feature a sleek aerodynamic design with 4×4 capability as standard. A range of 640kms will be on offer, along with 600hp and a 0-96kph sprint time of around 3.5 seconds. The all-new Wagoneer S BEV will also be displayed to the public next year, and production will start in 2024 in North America.
