Jeep Drives In A Special Compass

It’s been created to celebrate the model’s fifth anniversary in India.

Launched in 2017, the Compass was an important product for Jeep. The American brand had to get the recipe right to establish deeper and stronger roots in India. And it did so in its own style. Simple math reveals that the Jeep Compass completed five years in India this year. So Jeep has created a special version of the SUV to celebrate the occasion. Rather unimaginatively, it’s called the Jeep Compass 5th Anniversary Edition. Bookings for it are now open, and here’s the price list:

• 2.0 Diesel 4×2 MT – INR 24.44 Lakh

• 1.4 Petrol 4×2 DCT – INR 25.24 Lakh

• 2.0 Diesel 4×4 AT – INR 28.24 Lakh

Price-wise, the 5th Anniversary Edition slots between the Limited and Model S derivatives. As far as the features list is concerned, it includes 18-inch alloy wheels with granite crystal finish, a 5th Anniversary badge, leather seats with light tungsten accent stitching, auto-dimming IRVM and body-coloured sill and claddings. The commemorative iteration also boasts interior accents in Piano Black and anodized gunmetal, a black headliner, body colour/satin granite crystal lower front fascia and accent colour roof rails.

Mechanically, however, it is no different from the rest of the range. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol punches out 163hp/250Nm, whereas the 2.0-litre diesel offers 170hp/350Nm. While the former is available exclusively with the 7-speed DCT, the latter is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission. Choose the diesel-AT combo, and the 5th Anniversary Edition will come with Jeep’s renowned 4×4 system.

In case you are wondering, the rest of the features list isn’t shabby by any means. It covers auto LED headlamps, 8-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start and a six-speaker sound system.

In India, the Jeep Compass competes with the newly-launched Hyundai Tucson, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Citroen C5 Aircross and the Volkswagen Tiguan. So which one are you picking?

So you’re saying to me that this is CHEAPER than the Hyundai Tuscon?! Well, people should (and will) definitely go for this over the Korean SUV because ye India hai boss, yahan gaadi ka naam chalta hai! XD

Noticeably cheaper. But Hyundai is brand-new with stuff like ADAS. So, it isn’t an easy decision.

Jeep aftersales need to catch up though
