Jaguar Won’t Make Petrol Sports Cars After This F-Type

Only 150 examples will be made, all carrying the ZP Edition tag.

The Jaguar F-Type is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sports cars currently on sale worldwide. However, its years of using petrol for propulsion are drawing to a close. Jaguar has confirmed that 2024 will be the last year of production for its two-seater low-slung head-turner. In fact, once the conventionally-powered F-Type goes out of production, Jaguar will not make any petrol-fed sports car again.

So, before that happens, Jaguar has conceived something special – the F-Type ZP Edition. The commemorative creation takes inspiration from two 1960s Jaguar ‘Project ZP’ E-Type race cars. And only 150 examples of it will be made, covering two pre-defined colourways and both body styles – coupe and convertible.

One could have the Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition in Oulton Blue Gloss paint with Mars Red and Ebony duotone leather interior or Crystal Grey Gloss paint with Navy Blue and Ebony duotone leather interior. The limited-run cars also feature Porcelain White Gloss hand-painted racing-style roundels on the doors, and Porcelain White Gloss grille surrounds. The F-Type has never been offered in the exterior shades mentioned above. However, they were part of the E-Type ZP Collection unveiled earlier this year.

SV Bespoke, the department summoned to create the F-Type ZP Edition, has also adorned the special versions with other unique touches. The list includes Gloss Black accents, horizontal seat fluting, Gloss Black brake callipers and a ‘One of 150’ commissioning plaque on each car. Furthermore, the F-Type ZP Edition branding can be found on the fenders, Gloss Black Diamond Turned 20-inch rims, dashboard and tread plates.

What’s powering the Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition? It’s the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that pumps out 567hp/700Nm, while an 8-speed automatic transmits that oomph to all four wheels. That setup is enough to catapult the F-Type ZP Edition to 100kmph from a standstill in 3.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically pegged at 300kmph.
