Jacob & Co., Bugatti, and Lalique come together to create the magnificent Bugatti Calandre table clock. Calandre means radiator grille in French. This is the second collaboration between Jacob & Co. and Bugatti. The first was the Bugatti Tourbillon watch unveiled in 2024, inspired by its namesake sensational V16 powered hypercar. Lalique is a world renowned crystal maker from France.

Jacob & Co. is known for its audacious and unique creations. Their Opera Godfather which plays The Love Theme from The Godfather, and Bugatti Tourbillon are my favourites.

Case
Molded crystal case crafted by Lalique.
“The crystal case of the Bugatti Calandre is handcrafted in Lalique’s workshops in the eastern France town of Wingen-sur-Moder. Founded in 1922, it’s home to techniques refined over decades to achieve unmatched clarity and brilliance. Molten crystal is poured into an engineered steel mold, where it cools and solidifies into the sculpture. The clarity, purity, and inner light of the crystal ensure that every detail is accentuated when light passes through. Once cast, artisans spend months refining every surface to sharpen edges, enhance textures, and frost and polish finishes.
The process involves meticulous casting, cooling, and hand-finishing by expert artisans, ensuring that each piece meets the highest standards of quality. The intricate frosted and polished surfaces enhance the depth and dimension of the sculpted elephants, bringing them to life through light and shadow.”

The centrepiece of the case is the 30 mm, 288-facet patented Jacob Cut red gemstone. It is similar in colour to the Bugatti Macaron.

The Bugatti Calandre is a bold and elegant fusion of three unique brands encompassing aspects of watchmaking and jewellery, automotive, and crystal. Jacob & Co. for the tourbillon clock and red gemstone. Bugatti for the horseshoe shaped grille dial. Lalique for the molded crystal case. Bugatti and Lalique – both French – have a shared history.
