IWC Schaffhausen unveils a new dial version of the Ingenieur

The Ingenieur Automatic 40 is now available with a blue dial.

IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled the Ingenieur Automatic 40 with a blue dial. It joins the Ingenieur Automatic 40 collection. The other dial versions included Silver plated, Grey, Aqua, and Black. All have a stainless steel case, except for Grey, which features a titanium case.

Blue dial with a “grid” structure.

Baton-shaped hour and minute hands are rhodium plated and coated with Super-LumiNova®.

Seconds hand is rhodium plated.

The 13 baton-shaped hour markers (2 for 12 ‘clock) are rhodium plated and coated with Super-LumiNova®.

The white date numerals and blue date wheel, match the rest of the dial, an aesthetically pleasing touch.

Minutes track, graduated in increments of 5 minutes each, encircles the outer dial.

This new Ingenieur Automatic 40 impresses with its striking blue dial. The characteristic “grid” structure, consisting of small lines and squares, is stamped into the soft iron base using high pressure. Afterwards, the blue colour is applied with a PVD-coating. The rhodium- plated baton hands and the applied metal marker are all filled with Super-LumiNova® luminescent mass to ensure perfect legibility in all lighting conditions.”

Case and Bracelet

Case is made from stainless steel.

Diameter: 40 mm. Thickness: 10.70 mm.

Dial side features a convex sapphire glass, with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The sapphire glass “is secured against displacement by drop in air pressure.” 

Solid caseback.

Water resistant up to 10 bar.

Integrated bracelet made with folding clasp made from stainless steel.

It “features a case, bezel and integrated H-link bracelet with butterfly folding clasp made of stainless steel. The ergonomics of the case and bracelet have been carefully re-engineered and improved down to the smallest detail. The 40-millimetre case size and the middle-link attachment ensure excellent wearability, even on a more slender wrist. The characteristic round bezel is screwed onto the case ring with five polygonal screws. The components of the case and the bracelet are elaborately finished with a combination of polished and satin-finished surfaces.”

Movement

Powered by Calibre 32111, an automatic movement manufactured by IWC. It features an efficient double pawl winding system.” It drives the hours, minutes, seconds, date, and hacking-seconds.

According to online sources, the movement is manufactured by Val Fleurier for IWC. Val Fleurier is a movement manufacture owned by Richemont Group. Among their activities, they manufacture movements for Richemont Group owned brands such as Baume & Mercier, IWC Schaffhausen, Montblanc, Panerai, Piaget and possibly others.

The Ingenieur Automatic 40 is a handsome integrated bracelet watch powered by a dependable movement. It is an evolution of a timeless classic.
