It is a 35 mm version of IWC Schaffhausen’s luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet. It debuts a new colour shade called Pool.

What are its dial features?

Its Pool-coloured dial features the brand’s “Grid” pattern, a sequence of small lines and squares. The rhodium-plated hands and applied hour-markers are coated with Super-LumiNova (except for the seconds hand).

“Our new Pool colour is a fresh, radiant aquatic shade that feels made for summer – and it brings a surprising and vibrant new expression to the Ingenieur. The dial captures light in a beautiful way, and it perfectly complements the clean lines and the refined proportions of the Genta-inspired integrated bracelet design.” Christian Knoop, Creative Director at IWC Schaffhausen.

What is its case, bracelet and movement features?

Left: The Ingenieur Automatic 35 is a reduced case size reference of the Ingenieur 40, a thoroughly reengineered version of renown designer Gérald Genta’s Ingenieur SL, Reference 1832 from 1976. The five functional screws secure the “distinctive bezel” to the case ring. Notice the satin-finished and polished surfaces of the case and bezel. The integrated bracelet’s H-links are satin-finished and centre links are polished. Right: The movement finishing includes circular graining and Geneva stripes and a gold-plated automatic-winding rotor. The “Probus Scafusia” engraved on the crown is a testament of the brand’s “commitment to craftsmanship and manufacturing excellence.” Notice the crown guards.

Its case is made from stainless steel, measuring 35.1 mm (diameter) * 9.4 mm (thickness). The dial side features a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides and the caseback features a synthetic sapphire crystal. It is water resistant to 10 bar or approximately 100 metres. The integrated bracelet is made from stainless steel and is fitted with a butterfly folding clasp.

It is powered by calibre 47110, an automatic movement that drives the central hours, minutes, hacking seconds, and date. It comprises 151 parts and 23 jewels, beats at a modern frequency of 4 Hz or 28,800 vph and delivers a power reserve of 42 hours.

What do we think?

Image: A lovely dial colour, and not only a summer watch. 35 mm is a perfect size and will appeal to a broader segment of watch collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.

Pool is a refreshing and unique colour, one that is versatile and equally welcome during cold winter months (not just a summer watch). With a growing trend towards watches with compact case dimensions, it is not surprising that IWC Schaffhausen choose the Ingenieur 35 to debut this new colour shade. An enticing addition to the brand’s Ingenieur collection.
