HONOR has launched the X9d 5G, a durable smartphone with long battery life and AI tools. It targets outdoor workers, travellers, or anyone needing a resilient device without sacrificing screen quality or connectivity.
The Fall That Made History
HONOR states the X9d survived a drop from 6.133 metres and earned a Guinness World Record for the Highest Smartphone Drop. The test proved the device balances toughness and refined design, not a stunt.
Rugged by Design
The X9d boasts a six-layer, drop-resistant design and Ultra Bounce Anti-Drop Technology 3.0, which HONOR says boosts protection by 112 per cent over previous models. It includes a shock-absorbing bracket, a reinforced back shell, and deep-tempered glass to distribute impact. Certified for 2.5-metre drops, it has SGS 5-Star Reliability Certification and IP69K water and dust resistance, emphasising durability across surfaces.

Display
The X9d has a 6.79-inch OLED screen with a 2,640 × 1,200 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and peak HDR brightness of 6,000 nits for outdoor visibility. Ultra-narrow 1.3mm bezels maximise display area. HONOR includes eye protection, dynamic dimming, and scratch-resistant ultra-tough glass for durability.
Battery and Performance
- Battery capacity: 8,300mAh silicon‑carbon cell rated for longevity.
- Claimed endurance: Up to two days of heavy use according to HONOR lab data.
- Longevity measures: An anti-ageing algorithm designed to retain capacity over several years and multi-point temperature monitoring for use in a wide range of conditions.
- Charging: 66W HONOR SuperCharge for fast wired charging and 7.5W wired reverse charging to power accessories. Ultra Power Saving Mode helps preserve basic functions at very low charge levels.
Camera and AI
The X9d has a 108MP primary camera with a 1/1.67-inch sensor, OIS, and EIS for stable photos and videos. It features a 2MP depth sensor for creating portrait effects and a 16MP front camera embedded in the display. HONOR provides AI editing tools like AI Eraser, AI Cutout, AI Outpainting, AI Upscale, and AI Remove Reflection to ease editing. It features on-device AI for call translation, meeting summaries, an AI Assistant, and Magic Portal 2.0 for linking apps and tasks.
Connectivity and Availability
The phone supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C, NFC, and integrates with HONOR devices, such as MagicBook laptops and Earbuds. Colours include Reddish Brown, Forest Green, Sunrise Gold, and Midnight Black. Pre-orders in the UAE begin on October 24 at AED 1,299, offering incentives that include damage protection and accessories. However, the incentives will only apply to bookings made by October 30, 2026.
