What are the Honda XR300L and XR300 Rally?
The Honda XR300L and XR300 Rally are dual-sport motorcycles designed to perform on diverse forms of terrain. Unlike conventional street motorcycles, a dual-sport motorcycle is engineered to work on both paved and unpaved surfaces.
Honda positions the XR300L and XR300 Rally as an entry-level lightweight adventure and dual-sport segment. The motorcycle features a tall stance, an upright riding position, spoke wheels and long-travel suspension.

The Honda XR300L is intended for riders who are looking for a relatively narrow and manageable motorcycle with off-road capability. It can be used for daily commuting during the week and trail riding or short adventure trips at the weekend. While the Honda XR300 Rally is based on the same platform and shares the same concept, it has additional hardware designed for longer-distance travel.
What engine powers the XR300L and XR300 Rally?
Both the Honda XR300L and XR300 Rally are powered by a 293.5cc single-cylinder air-and-oil-cooled engine. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. It’s the same engine used in the Honda CB300F, where it churns out approximately 24 hp and 25 Nm of torque, and you can expect it to be very close to these figures on the XR300 models.
What are the main features of the Honda XR300L?
The Honda XR300L is designed around a simple dual-sport package. Its main features include a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel with wire-spoke rims, shod with dual-purpose tyres. The model offers a reliable balance between the ability to ride on normal roads and occasional off-road.

What additional features does the XR300 Rally get?
The XR300 Rally uses the same basic 293.5cc engine and dual-sport layout as the XR300L, but it adds features aimed at long-distance adventure riding. The biggest functional upgrade is the 13-litre fuel tank compared with the 7.8-litre tank of the XR300L. The Rally version also receives a front fairing and a taller windscreen. These components provide greater protection from windblast, rain and road debris, especially when riding on highways.
An additional upgrade the Rally variant gets is the Intrument cluster. The XR300 Rally gets a five-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity through Honda RoadSync, which offers turn-by-turn navigation and connected phone features.

What type of chassis do the Honda XR300L and XR300 Rally use?
The XR300L and XR300 Rally use a lightweight dual-sport chassis designed to balance road stability with off-road manoeuvrability. The suspension consists of long-travel telescopic forks at the front and a rear monoshock.
What are the prices of the two motorcycles?
The Honda XR300L is priced at ₹1.83 lakh ex-showroom, while the Honda XR300 Rally costs ₹2.08 lakh ex-showroom. The Rally is therefore ₹25,000 more expensive than the XR300L.
