What exactly is the 2027 Hyundai Tucson?
The 2027 Hyundai Tucson is the all-new, next-generation version of one of Hyundai’s successful compact SUV models. The new generation of the Tucson, according to Hyundai, is redesigned from the ground up to be larger, more efficient and more software-focused than its predecessor.
The new generation of the Hyundai Tucson is built on a new stretched platform that emphasises both on-road comfort and light off-road capability. The new Tucson introduces Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design language, a cabin reimagined as a “furnished space,” and powertrain options centred on hybrid and plug-in hybrid.

How much bigger is the new Tucson?
The new 2027 Hyundai Tucson is significantly larger than its predecessor, especially in its long-wheelbase (LWB) form, which most markets will receive. The SUV has grown by 60 mm to 4,700 mm, by 40 mm to 1,905 mm in width, and by 20 mm to 1,685 mm in height, while the wheelbase stretches by 30 mm to 2,785 mm.
These dimensional extensions naturally translate into a more usable and spacious cabin, with Hyundai quoting 1,036 mm of width, rear legroom of 1,064 mm and front shoulder room of 1,470 mm.
What does “Art of Steel” design actually mean?
“Art of Steel” is Hyundai’s latest design philosophy for the 2027 Tucson, which preaches an exterior language that emphasises structural strength, muscular proportions and clean surfaces rather than busy creasing or excessive graphics.

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson features a rugged stance with squared-off fenders, giving the SUV a much more muscular silhouette than its predecessor. At the front, it exhibits an all-new “H-Edge” front lighting and sculptural “Prism” rear lamps that wrap around the tailgate for a technical, jewel-like look. Some markets also get Micro Pixel Lighting (MPL) with 25,600 tiny LEDs, though this advanced lighting is limited to short-wheelbase versions only.
What’s new inside the cabin?
The cabin has also been redesigned with a new philosophy, which Hyundai dubs a “Furnish Space” rather than a pure driver-focused cabin. The new design emphasises ergonomics, comfort tech and perceived quality.
The cabin features a slim 9.9-inch display positioned above the steering column to display essential info without crowding the main screen, and physical buttons for climate and audio are kept below the central touchscreen to minimise distraction.

The interior puts massive emphasis on comfort, featuring Ergo Motion Seats that use a seven-cell pneumatic system to massage the lumbar and side bolsters, plus a four-link Relaxation Comfort Seat that can recline up to 10 degrees at the push of a button and the cabin is layered with soft cushioning appearing on door panels and armrests to lift the cabin’s premium feel.
What is Pleos Connect and Gleo AI?
The 2027 Hyundai Tucson uses an Android Automotive OS (AAOS)-based infotainment system branded as Pleos Connect. Pleos Connect is displayed on either a 17-inch or 12.9-inch central touchscreen, working in tandem with a 9.9-inch slim display above the steering column.
Gleo AI is the intelligent assistant built into Pleos Connect, designed as an “agentic” AI that understands natural language and can execute multi-step tasks.

What safety and driver-assist features does it offer?
The 2027 Hyundai Tucson is engineered with a strong focus on passive and active safety features, which include:
- Hot-stamped steel body structure with reinforced 2.0 mm centre pillars
- Multi-point crash energy management
- In-Cabin Monitoring Unit (ICMU) for driver eye activity and drowsiness
- Child Presence Detection
- Rear Occupant Alert
- Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA)
- Navigation-Linked Smart Cruise Control (NSCC)
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go
- Lane Following Assist (LFA)
- Emergency Stop function
What are the XRT and XRT PRO variants?
The XRT and XRT PRO are rugged, adventure-oriented variants of the 2027 Hyundai Tucson, designed to give the compact SUV a more capable off-road image and real hardware to match. Both trims feature darker exterior cladding and a forged carbon-inspired interior, enabling a tougher visual stance overall.
The PRO version comes with all-wheel drive, all-terrain tyres, and increased ground clearance of 210 mm, which is 30 mm more than standard models, along with improved approach and departure angles, front recovery hooks and dark-metal interior accents.

What engines and powertrains are available?
The 2027 Hyundai Tucson is offered with a range of powertrains focused on “Intelligent Efficiency,” balancing fuel economy with everyday performance and refinement. The range includes a conventional petrol option, a full hybrid and a plug-in hybrid.

The standard Internal Combustion engine is a 1.6-litre turbocharged GDI unit producing around 184 hp, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid system combines this 1.6T engine with an electric motor and battery pack, which offers 17.9 km per litre for Front Wheel Drive models, with a power output of 233 hp. The plug-in hybrid pairs the same 1.6T engine with a larger battery and more powerful motor, delivering a total system output of 288 hp with an electric-only range rated at approximately 81 kilometres on a full charge.
