Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept Revealed at the NY Auto Show
A sleek look at the future of Genesis and its performance-oriented models and future programs.
This week at the New York Auto Show, Genesis is releasing their GV80 Coupe Concept. Seating four passengers—not five like most compact SUVs—this is being touted as being inspired by the X Speedium Coupe Concept (which you can see HERE) revealed last year in New York.Â
Billed as combining “the practicality of a lifestyle-oriented SUV with the dynamism of a sports car.†This is their statement of the future, of Genesis’ ‘emotional, performance-oriented models and a preview of their future.’
Looking inside, you’ll find four racing-style bucket seats, cross-hashed inserts that, to me, appear almost plaid at a distance (Korean Tartan anyone?), and even orange seat belts. Outside there are plenty of LED details. There are full-width taillights in two rows at the rear and two rows of LED headlights that extend onto the fenders. The wide blacked-out grill and deep chin spoiler and flared cheeks on this pretty face certainly strive to show Genesis is meaning to go after the sports-SUV juggernauts of the day.Â
What do you think of the concept? Is Genesis going for the jugular of the likes of BMW and Audi? Or is this just another attempt that will fall on its face? Let us know in the comments!
Cheers!Â
