We’ve barely entered the aviation industry’s summer season 2025, and Finnair is already finalising plans for the next one. The flag carrier of Finland has confirmed that it will add a new route to its Nordic network in the summer of 2026. Furthermore, it will also increase flight frequencies to multiple popular destinations across Scandinavia during the same period.
First, the new route. Finnair will operate five weekly flights to Alta, Norway, from Helsinki via Kittilä between March 29 and October 22, 2026. A 68-seat ATR will ferry passengers on all sectors. For the uninitiated, Alta is one of the primary locations to experience northern lights. The town has also become a popular cruise ship destination.

Sticking with Norway, Finnair will operate five weekly flights to Tromsø from its capital via Rovaniemi next summer. Until now, the airline has only offered tag flights aboard ATR aircraft in the winter. Another Norwegian town where Finnair will fly more next summer is Kirkenes. The service from Ivalo will operate five times a week, two more than in summer 2025.
Finnair will also increase flights to the Nordic capitals in summer 2026. Stockholm and Copenhagen will get seven, and Reykjavik two additional weekly frequencies. The carrier has also announced that it will fly to Billund (8 weekly services), Visby (7 weekly flights) and Bodø (6 weekly services), and add two weekly flights to Mariehamn between June 8 and August 9, 2026. The airline will also operate 17 weekly flights to Ivalo, 23 weekly services to Kittilä between March 30 and April 26 next year. From April 27 until May 3, the weekly frequencies will be revised to 13 and 19, respectively.
