Ferrari has unveiled the details of the interior architecture and interface design of Ferrari Luce, the company’s upcoming fully electric sports vehicle. The announcement was made recently, with a special event in San Francisco, while the details of Ferrari Luce’s exterior design will be revealed in Italy in May 2026 to complete a phase-by-phase announcement of Ferrari Luce, which began in October 2025 at Ferrari’s home facilities in Maranello, Italy, with a preview of the underlying technology of Ferrari’s upcoming fully electric sports vehicle.
What Does the Name “Luce” Represent?
Ferrari has confirmed that “Luce” means “light” in Italian, with Luce being the formal name of Ferrari’s new electric vehicle. According to Ferrari, “The formal definition of the new name follows the updated naming policy adopted for the new Ferrari model line. Luce is Ferrari’s first car to occupy a new fully electric segment of our range.”
How Was the Interior Developed?
The interior has been developed together with LoveFrom, a design collective founded by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson. Ferrari’s Styling Centre, which is headed by Flavio Manzoni, has collaborated with LoveFrom to further develop the concept into a production-designed product.
The interior of the cabin is based on a simple single-volume concept. Ferrari explains that the essential parts of the cabin, such as the binnacle, center control panel, and console, have inputs and outputs that are clearly separated as hardware and software that were developed simultaneously.
What materials and manufacturing processes are used?
Aluminium is utilized as a primary component in the cabin as well as the steering wheel. Ferrari utilized 100% recycled aluminum, machined from solid aluminum billet using 3-axis as well as 5-axis machines, anodized. Glass components in the interior, including the Control Panel and Shifter, employ Corning Gorilla Glass 5, renowned for its scratch-resistance and durable impact strength. Ferrari affirmed that it used Laser Micro Perforation technology to achieve detailed graphic composition on glass surfaces.
How Does the Interface Balance Physical and Digital Controls?
Ferrari has adopted buttons, dials, and toggles that are mechanical in combination with digital displays using OLED. The steering wheel incorporates a new minimalist three-spoke design that features recycled aluminum, together with two controller modules of an analogue style.
Also, the instrument binnacle, which is bolted to the steering column, moves along with it, comprising dual OLED displays. For infotainment, Ferrari developed an ultra-thin display technology in collaboration with Samsung Display. This enables layers of display components to be integrated.
A rotatable central control panel is provided with a ball-and-socket mount, designed to be turned towards either driver or passenger, and it is provided with a “multigraph” display unit, featuring independent control via a three-motor power source, with clock, chronograph, compass, launch, etc.
What Are the Launch and Availability Details?
The electric system of the Luce was first introduced by Ferrari in October 2025 at its e-building in Maranello. The interior and interfaces were introduced in San Francisco on the 9th of February, 2026. The exterior and final phase of the vehicle will take place in Italy in May, 2026. Information regarding the cost of the Ferrari, its production numbers, and market availability, will be released later.
