UAE flag carrier Etihad Airways is set to gradually upgrade its route to Sydney with its latest flagship aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000. Starting October 1, 2025, the said type of widebody will ferry passengers between Abu Dhabi and the capital of New South Wales, Australia, on select flights, complementing the other services currently being offered aboard Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
From January 31, 2026, all 10 weekly flights to Sydney will be aboard Etihad’s A350 aircraft. Meanwhile, the carrier’s daily flights to Melbourne will be served by a Boeing 787-9 aeroplane. Both twin-engine widebody jets will feature the airline’s Business Suites and increased premium seating options.
The A350 will boast Etihad’s newest interior and 44 Business Studios with direct aisle access, a lie-flat bed of 79 inches in length, noise-cancelling headphones, a wireless charging dock, Bluetooth headphones pairing facility, an 18.5-inch TV screen, and generous storage. The aircraft will also have 327 seats in the Economy section, each with a 13-inch screen and Bluetooth headphones pairing functionality. Passengers can get complimentary Chat packages on Wi-Fi or purchase complete internet surfing for the flight. Here’s the flight plan for Sydney:
