The national carriers of the UAE and Portugal have co-launched an extension of their codeshare agreement, signed in 2023. Etihad Airways and TAP Air Portugal have activated a frequent flyer partnership agreement. As the name suggests, it allows members of Etihad Guest and TAP Miles&Go programmes to earn and redeem loyalty miles on flights and more with either airline.
The extension of their ties is a welcome move. Not only does it benefit frequent flyers, but it also entices those who haven’t enrolled in either programme. Etihad Airways’ network complements that of TAP Air Portugal, with destinations spread across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. The frequent flyer partnership agreement will allow Etihad Guest members to earn miles while travelling to destinations such as Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro and Cancun. On the other hand, TAP Air Portugal’s Miles&Go members can earn and spend miles on Etihad’s network with several destinations, including new ones such as Chiang Mai, Hong Kong and Medan.
In addition to spending earned miles for reward flights, Etihad Guest members can also use them for worldwide hotel stays and holidays and shopping for products from the Etihad Guest Reward Shop. TAP Air Portugal’s Miles&Go members can use their earned flyer miles for flight tickets and other offers, such as on TAP Store items.
