Emirates Will Offer More Capacity To Melbourne Next Year

The Dubai-based airline has confirmed a third direct service, which will be served by a retrofitted Boeing 777.

Presently, Emirates operates two direct A380s between Dubai and Melbourne daily. A third flight, with a stopover in Singapore, is another option for flyers between the two cities. While the direct services will remain intact, Emirates has decided to pull the plug on the Singapore-Melbourne link on March 30, 2025. The airline will launch a third direct service to improve connectivity on the same date.

The third nonstop service will be operated with a newly retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER with a four-class layout. The aircraft will represent flight EK404, which will depart Dubai at 21:15 and land in Melbourne at 17:40 the next day. The return leg—EK405—starts and concludes its journey at 23:55 and 07:00 the following day. The revamped widebody will boast 8 First Class Suites, 40 seats in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy and 256 in Economy. As for the Dubai-Singapore connection, new flight numbers will be allotted.

Those travelling in the opposite direction board Emirates flight EK425, which departs from Perth and arrives in Dubai at 06:00 and 13:10, respectively. On this route, the airline operates a three-class Boeing 777-300ER featuring 8 First Class Suites, 42 seats in Business Class and 304 in Economy.

Towards the end of October 2024, the carrier also resumed its services to Adelaide.
