Emirates Confirms Two New Routes For The Revamped 777s

The airline plans to offer the Premium Economy option to travellers to 28 cities by the end of 2024.

One of the world’s largest and most sought-after airlines, Emirates, has announced the names of two more cities where it will deploy its upgraded Boeing 777s. On October 1, 2024, one of the revamped aeroplanes will serve passengers en route EK 85 and EK 86, the to and fro services between Dubai and Zurich. On the same day, travellers on flights EK 819 and EK 820 between Dubai and Riyadh will also be served on a thoroughly refreshed Boeing 777. This will be the first time the Dubai-based airline will offer the Premium Economy option in the Middle East/GCC.

Last month, Emirates announced the names of the first three routes on which the first revamped Boeing 777s will be deployed. The list included Geneva, Tokyo and Brussels. From September 22, 2024, the Dubai-Geneva route will become the first in the carrier’s network to offer Premium Economy seats and the new Business Class experience on all flights. This will be achieved by introducing the upgraded Boeing 777 on EK 89 and EK 90 services.

Another similar update comes for services between Dubai and the Belgian capital. From October 9, 2024, Emirates will commence operating a second refurbished Boeing 777 to Brussels on EK 181 and EK 182 six times per week.

The four-class Boeing 777 features six or eight First Class suites, 38 Business Class seats in a four-abreast layout, 24 Premium Economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration, and 256 Economy seats. The airline plans to offer travellers to 28 cities with Premium Economy option before 2024 comes to a close. A fleet of upgraded Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s will help achieve the target. Emirates confirms that 25 aircraft have already been retrofitted with the latest interior. An additional 17 more will undergo the upgrade by December this year.
