DANIEL ROTH has introduced the Extra Plat Rose Gold. This is the new rose gold version of the Extra Plat, the first being the Extra Plat Souscription, a yellow gold version launched at LVMH Watch Week in New York during January 21-22, 2025. The Extra Plat is the LVMH owned brand’s second model, the Tourbillon Souscription (yellow gold version), and Tourbillon Rose Gold being the first.
The Extra Plat Rose Gold, while almost identical to the Extra Plat Souscription, features a transparent caseback that displays the manual winding calibre DR002.

Base made from solid white gold and features a handcrafted “guillochage en ligne,” or pinstripes guilloché pattern. Hour ring is made from rose gold 5N. Roman numerals in black font. Black-coated hour and minute hands are made from stainless steel.

Powered by calibre DR002, a manual winding movement developed and assembled at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, overseen by master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini.

Calibre DR002 is a modern movement with a high beat of 4 Hz and incorporate a free-sprung balance. It’s four arms each feature “a variable inertia weight for fine regulation,” that ensure superior and stable timekeeping over lengthy periods. While a free-sprung balance is not required, part of its charm is the considerable expertise and skill required of the watchmaker to regulate its rate by adjusting the weights, four in this case.

Our Thoughts
I fell in love with the Extra Plat Souscription when I wrote about it in January. I looked forward to the inevitable rose gold version, where I successfully predicted a transparent caseback. DANIEL ROTH followed this same pattern with the Tourbillon Souscription and Tourbillon Rose Gold. At this level of watchmaking I would like to be able to view the movement.
The new Extra Plat Rose Gold does not disappoint. It is among the most complete two-hand dress watches in the world. DANIEL ROTH signature double-ellipse case. Hand-crafted two-tone guilloché dial. A beautifully finished ultra-thin form movement that fills the case. Last but not least, it is a bit more understated and versatile than its yellow gold sibling.
The Extra Plat Rose Gold is vintage inspired yet every bit a modern watch crafted to extremely high haute horology standards. I look forward to seeing it in the flesh and doing a hands-on review. Furthermore, I look forward to other debuts from the brand. Under LVMH ownership, DANIEL ROTH has a bright future indeed.
