Etihad Airways and Air Astana have activated their bilateral codeshare agreement. As with such partnerships, both airlines offer their respective customers a wider choice of destinations by utilising each other’s network. Also, their baggage is transferred to the final location of their scheduled journey.
Those travelling with the UAE national carrier can access ten destinations through Air Astana’s two gateways—Almaty and Astana—all of which are new to Etihad’s extended network. In addition to multiple destinations across Kazakhstan, the codeshare agreement also opens links to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan’s capital, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital.
On the other hand, those travelling with Air Astana to Abu Dhabi get access to various destinations on Etihad’s network across India, Bahrain and Oman. For the record, the national carrier of Kazakhstan began the Astana-Abu Dhabi flight on October 30, 2024. The link between Almaty and the UAE’s capital was established earlier this month. The airline operates both routes twice weekly using an Airbus A321neo and Airbus A321LR.
