Casa Ferrari Abu Dhabi 2024 Hosts The Regional Premier Of Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider

In addition to the Middle East 30th Anniversary Ferraris, 12Cilindri Spider was the star of this year's Casa Ferrari

Following the launch of the 12Cilindri in Dubai a few weeks ago, Ferrari chose the stunning backdrop of its annual Casa Ferrari event, held at Yas Links Golf Club, for the regional premiere of the 12Cilindri Spider.

With the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in full swing, Casa Ferrari brought guests and dedicated Ferrari fans to witness the unveiling of the breathtakingly beautiful new model.

Ferrari is unique in its embrace of both tradition and cutting-edge technology.

The 6.5-litre, 65-degree engine is the latest evolution of the Ferrari F140 V-12 engine, first used in the Enzo two decades ago. Here, it produces 819 naturally aspirated horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque at 7,250 rpm, with the redline set at 9,500 rpm. There’s no hybrid assist, as Ferrari has met all relevant emissions standards without relying on electricity.

It’s essentially identical to the engine in the 812 Competizione, complete with titanium connecting rods and a valvetrain that ditches the typical hydraulic lifters for a solid-state system with rotating finger followers. Unique to it is a system called “aspirated torque shaping,” which uses electronics to adjust the torque curve in the third and fourth gears.

The engine is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission mounted at the rear, promising 30 percent quicker shifts than the 812. Given that the 812 was one of the fastest cars on the road, we can only imagine what this will be like. Switching to taller 21-inch wheels reduces the gear ratio by 5.0 percent, which helps improve acceleration. Ferrari says the new car takes 2.9 seconds to reach 100 kmph (62 mph). The Spider is slightly slower, with acceleration times of 2.95 seconds. Both top speeds are above 340 kmph (211 mph).

Casa Ferrari is an annual event held in Abu Dhabi during the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. A luxury hospitality and entertainment venue designed in the shape of a villa, the concept reflects its name – Casa, which means house in Italian – and serves as a home for the local Ferraristi community in the area.
