Bremont unveils a new version of its Jumping Hour watch

The Terra Nova Jumping Hour is housed in a 904L stainless steel case and available with either a bracelet or a leather strap.

Bremont has introduced the Terra Nova Jumping Hour in a 904L stainless steel case – available with an identical bracelet or a brown nubuck leather strap. Unlike the debut bronze model which we covered earlier, this new steel model is not a limited edition.

“When we first launched the Terra Nova Jumping Hour in bronze, the response was phenomenal — it sold outvery quickly. It confirmed for us that our clients are not only hungry for more intriguing complications, but also for bold design statements. We know this watch has the potential to become a future icon, standing alongside the Altitude MB. In this regard, we’re proud to introduce its second iteration crafted in 904L steel and not limited. It’s as robust as any Bremont and makes a bold style statement.”Davide Cerrato, CEO of Bremont.

Key Features

Functions and Operation

Image: The Terra Nova Jumping Hour is a military inspired model. The central window resembles a compass, vital for military forces in the trenches. The linear apertures are in the ‘Montre a guichet’ style.

Jumping hour window at 12 o’clock. Minute window at 6 o’clock. Seconds window in the centre. Winding and time setting via the push-in crown at 3 o’clock.

Dial

Closed-case dial design. Printed brown numerals on the hour and minute discs. Compass design small black seconds hand.

Case

Image: The two-piece case features a satin and polished finish. Notice the brand’s logo embossed on the crown (left). The brown numerals match well with the leather strap (right). The cream box stitch on the leather strap evokes a sense of youthfulness and versatility (right).

Two-piece cushion-shaped case is made from 904L stainless steel. Diameter: 38 mm. Thickness: 9.10 mm. Lug width: 20 mm. Lug-to-lug distance: 44 mm. The hour, minute, and seconds window feature a sapphire crystal. Caseback is made from 904L steel. Water resistant up to 3 ATM or approximately 30 metres.

Two options for bracelet / strap: Quick release bracelet made from 904L stainless steel fitted with a butterfly clasp. Quick release brown nubuck leather strap featuring a cream box stitch and fitted with a steel pin buckle clasp.

Movement

Image: Closed caseback featuring the world map. Sellita’s are dependable movements, and easily serviceable by competent watchmakers worldwide. Though the jumping hour movement powering this model might require additional training for watchmakers.

Powered by BC634AH, an automatic jumping hour movement developed by Sellita for Bremont. Jewels: 29. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 56 hours. Movement features: Glucydur balance wheel. Anachron balance spring. Nivaflex mainspring.

“The high performance Bremont Jumping Hour movement operates through a system of gears and springs, allowing the hour disc to “jump” to the next numeral at the exact moment the minute hand completes a full revolution. In this instance the calibre developed is high performance with high torque, ensuring the jump is less than 1/10 second.”

Our Thoughts

Image: A discreet, elegant, and versatile watch. I prefer the version with leather strap. Ideally purchase the bracelet version, and buy the strap separately. Since both are interchangeable, you get the best of both.

The 904L stainless steel makes the Terra Nova Jumping Hour discreet and a great deal more versatile than the bronze model – yet highlighting the bold design of its ‘Montre a guichet’ style linear apertures. Furthermore, the closed-dial design in steel evokes vintage vibes – an aspect that would appeal to collectors. Bremont has a winner on its hands.
