BMW Concept Speedtop: The Shooting Brake That Stole The Show At Villa d’Este 2025

At the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025, BMW has taken the covers off its latest marvel: the BMW Concept Speedtop. The striking shooting brake brings forth an elegant and modern design, and if you think this is just another gorgeous concept like the BMW 2002 Hommage that will never see the light of day, you’re in for a surprise. The Concept Speedtop is headed for a limited production run of 70 units, entering car collectors’ must-have list.

Dramatic Shooting Brake Design

Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design, says, “A true BMW exudes dynamism and elegance even when it’s standing still.” The Concept Speedtop’s design is just brilliant. At the front, the shark-nose grille, slim laser headlights, and illuminated kidney grille set a distinctive tone.

The central spline runs along the bonnet, over the carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof, and tapers off at the active rear spoiler. All of this is designed for optimal aerodynamic performance.

The floating two-tone paintwork, blending ‘Floating Sunstone Maroon’ and ‘Floating Sundown Silver,’ enhances its sculpted lines. BMW’s signature Hofmeister kink at the rear pillar reinforces its Touring identity.

The 14-spoke, two-tone forged wheels are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S high-performance tyres. They sit nice and cosy inside the flared wheel arches, giving the car a wide track and planted stance, ready to tackle some winding mountain roads or long-distance sprints.

Ultra Luxurious Interior

Inside, the Concept Speedtop exemplifies BMW’s dedication to detail. Hand-stitched leather in ‘Sundown Maroon’ and ‘Moonstone White’ sets the tone for the driver-focused cockpit. The dual-tone leather also mirrors the car’s exterior paint, creating a seamless visual link.

A bespoke leather-trimmed trunk, complete with brogue-style perforations and a two-section layout, ensures practicality for grand touring. Integrated ambient lighting in the headliner and trunk adds a modern touch.

For the ultimate exclusivity, BMW collaborated with Italian leather maestros Schedoni. Two custom-fitted Schedoni travel bags sit snugly behind the seats, while a matching weekend bag slots perfectly in the luggage area. Touring in style, redefined.

M Underneath

Beneath the elegant lines is BMW’s most powerful non-hybrid V8 engine yet. It is based on the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 found in several M models. Although BMW is yet to make the grand reveal of this estate, we reckon it will produce over 630hp and 750Nm!

Paired with BMW’s latest 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, expect quick shifts and razor-sharp throttle response. It could possibly do the 0–100km/h run in just 3.7 seconds, and we expect a top speed north of 305km/h. The chassis features adaptive M suspension and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

Exclusivity & Engineering In Harmony

BMW’s Bernd Körber says, “After the overwhelming success of the Concept Skytop, we’re thrilled to offer a small production series of the Concept Speedtop. With just 70 units, this car is set to be a prized gem for true BMW enthusiasts.”

The BMW Concept Speedtop is a tribute to the art of driving and the legacy of BMW’s Touring models. With its gorgeous shooting brake silhouette and the raw power from the 4.4L twin-turbo V8, it’s a machine that speaks to those who demand more performance, more exclusivity, and more driving thrills. For the lucky few who secure one of the 70 units, it promises to be a truly special driving companion.
