Bharat Auto Expo 2025: Maruti Suzuki unveils its first-ever BEV called the e-VITARA

It claims to offer 500 kms of range and access to nationwide charging facility across Maruti’s expansive dealership network

At the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo India 2025, India’s biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki unveiled its first-ever BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) SUV – the eVITARA. Set to get retailed via Maruti Suzuki’s premium NEXA dealerships upon launch, the new Maruti Suzuki eVITARA will be offered with two battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh with a claimed range of over 500 km on a single charge. Power output figures are expected to be released at the EV’s launch.

Underscoring the importance of the ‘Make in India’ campaign, Maruti Suzuki will be manufacturing the e-VITARA SUV in India with plans to export this world-class EV to over 100 global markets. To ensure the new EV SUV performs ideally in all market conditions, the automaker is said to have designed and tested the car extensively between ‘Sand to Snow’ extreme temperature conditions across the world.

The exterior poses a bold and masculine design language with 3-point Matrix LED DRLS and projector headlamps up front. 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels adorn the sides and a roof-end spoiler exudes strength at the rear. The cabin has a host of all-new features including a twin-deck floating console, an all-new bespoke steering wheel, a fixed-glass sunroof and soft touch dual-tone materials with multi-colour ambient lighting.

A twin-screen layout comprises the infotainment and instrument clusters with both measuring 10 inches each, featuring wireless smartphone connectivity and an Infinity by Harman sound system. Passenger comfort is taken care of via the fitment of ventilated front seats, best-in-segment 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat along with a versatile 40:20:40 rear seat configuration.

On the passenger safety front, the new e-VITARA will feature Level 2 ADAS, 7 Airbags as standard (including driver-side knee airbag), Electronic Parking Brake, All-Disc Brakes, e-Call functionality, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and more than 60 connected car features. The new EV SUV will be built on Maruti Suzuki’s HEARTECT-e platform with over 50 per cent high-tensile steel construction and an advanced battery protection system.

For those already onboard the ‘range anxiety’ train, Maruti Suzuki via NEXA will offer ‘e for me’ Electric Eco-Solutions. This offers customers a nationwide plug-and-play DC fast-charging network at MSIL’s dealership network featuring AutoCharge functionality and advance slot booking. Additionally, the ‘e for me’ app offers charger discovery, route planning, payments, and feedback in a seamless, user-friendly experience.
