British luxury carmaker Bentley recently unveiled the new fourth-generation Continental GT Speed in the UAE with a special track event at the Dubai Autodrome. The event was hosted by Bentley Emirates, exclusively represented by Al Habtoor Motors in the UAE, and The Cornea Impression was invited for the same as well. Here’s Shivaum Punjabi of The Cornea Impression giving a full walkaround and first drive impressions of the new Bentley Continental GT Speed with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, a first for the Continental GT.
The new Bentley Continental GT Speed is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine mated to a 187 hp electric motor to produce 771 hp, making it the most powerful road-going Bentley ever created. The new Continental GT Speed with the new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain can do the 0-100kph pull in just 3.1 seconds while topping out at 335kph. The presence of a plug-in hybrid powertrain entails the new Bentley Continental GT Speed can be driven on pure no-emissions electric power for up to 81 kms.
Bentley cars are known for their craftsmanship inside the cabin and the new redesigned cabin substantiates that. The new Bentley Continental GT Speed now gets three-dimensional leather textures, wellness seat technology, dark chrome accents along the dashboard and a customizable interior palette that allows customers to personalise every aspect of their vehicle.
On the exterior, the new Bentley Continental GT Speed features a tweaked taillight and headlight design. The latter features single headlamps, the first of its kind since the 1950s. Bentley claims both coupe and convertible models are now available and both will be handcrafted at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England. Production and deliveries for the new Bentley Continental GT Speed are already underway across the world, including the UAE.
