Bentley Emirates has launched the Flying Spur Hybrid in the UAE. The new variant expands the luxury limousine range and claims the top spot for those seeking the most eco-friendly derivative. In fact, the Flying Spur Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient in Bentley’s history, as it can travel 805km (WLTP) when fully fuelled with petrol and battery charge.
Powering the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid is the fusion of a twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 petrol mill and an electric motor. The internal combustion engine alone produces 416hp/550Nm, whereas the electric motor generates 136hp/400Nm. The total system output is 544hp/750Nm, enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 285kmph. An active all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission play their bit in delivering those numbers.
The electric motor is backed by an 18kWh (net) lithium-ion battery, which, based on the market, can be charged in as little as two and a half hours. And in the EV Drive mode, the Bentley Flying Spur can travel up to 41km on electric juice alone. The top speed, however, is limited to 140kmph. Similarly, there are two other E modes – Hybrid and Hold. While the former brings out the maximum efficiency from the saloon, the latter balances engine and electric power to hold high voltage battery charge for later use.
Of course, the features list is extensive. It includes LED Matrix headlights, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected-car tech, powered seats with memory function, multi-zone automatic climate control and three-chamber air suspension. In addition, the package includes many safety features and driver assistance systems, including Blind Spot Monitoring, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers and Park Assist.
Like other Bentley models, the Flying Spur Hybrid can also be specced-up with stuff from the options list. Also, the carmaker would happily listen to and implement any customisation requests.
