ATP Halle – final: Bublik wins his first ATP 500 tournament

This Sunday at the OWL Arena, Andrey Rublev and Alexander Bublik battled it out for the championship crown in Halle. After 1h36 of action, it's Bublik who succeeds to Hubert Hurkacz.

With Wimbledon just a few days away, Alexander Bublik is building up his confidence for the biggest success of his career. At the age of 27, the Kazakh wins his first ATP 500 title on his first attempt. In the German sunshine this afternoon, he defeated world No. 7 Andrey Rublev of Russia in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-3).

Today, as throughout the week, the player ranked 48th in the ATP rankings seemed to be on a mission. If the label of fantasy player, capable of the best and the worst, seems to stick to him, he has just shown how formidable he can be when he doesn’t fall into his antics. Big serves, breathtaking technique and unwavering concentration: this is the magic formula that enables Alexander Bublik to become a champion.

During this wonderful week for him, the Kazakh eliminated :

– Borna Coric (6-3, 6-1)

– Jan-Lennard Struff (6-3, 6-7, 6-3)

– Jannik Sinner (7-5, 2-0, withdrawal)

– Alexander Zverev (6-3, 7-5)

– Andrey Rublev (6-3, 3-6, 6-3)
