Here’s some good news for those travelling from India to Japan or the other way. All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Air India have announced the expansion of their codeshare partnership, which was launched in April last year. In addition, the Indian carrier has confirmed a shift of operations from one Tokyo airport to another.
Starting March 31, 2025, Air India will begin operating four weekly flights between Delhi and Tokyo Haneda, replacing its existing connection to Tokyo Narita. This shift allows travellers to reach Tokyo downtown more quickly and reduces transit expenditures. Where Narita International Airport is 70km away, Tokyo Haneda is just 18km.
Flight AI358 will depart from Delhi at 20:20 and arrive in Tokyo Haneda at 07:55 the next day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The opposite service, flight AI357, will leave Tokyo Haneda at 11:50 and arrive in Delhi at 17:25, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Air India will deploy a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on this route, featuring 18 flatbeds in Business Class and 238 seats in the Economy section.

The enhancement in the codeshare agreement between the two Star Alliance members will go live on April 1, 2025 (subject to regulatory approvals). Both airlines have chosen six domestic destinations in each other’s networks to improve the travel experience for their respective customers.
Air India will place its designator code ‘AI’ on ANA’s flights between Tokyo Haneda and six other cities in Japan: Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Nagoya, Okinawa, Osaka, and Sapporo. The bilateral codeshare agreement also allows ANA to place its designator code ‘NH’ on Air India’s flight between Delhi and Tokyo Haneda, plus six other cities in India: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune. Tickets for Air India’s Delhi-Haneda connection are now on sale. The codeshare flights will open for bookings gradually.
