Akasa Air Now Has 27 Aircraft In Its Fleet

The airline still has 199 jets on order.

Mumbai-headquartered Akasa Air is setting the pace in expanding operations. The Indian low-cost carrier has taken delivery of its 27th aircraft, a Boeing 737-8-200. Bearing registration VT-YBD, the twin-engined single-aisle narrowbody started its journey from Seattle, USA, and completed its first leg in Keflavik, Iceland. The final leg began in Larnaca, Cyprus, and concluded in Bengaluru, India.

Akasa Air began operations in August 2022. Within seventeen months, it had ordered 226 Boeing 737s, of which 27 have been delivered. Simple math reveals an order book with 199 remaining. The 27th aircraft the airline received today reflects a rapid fleet expansion within 30 months of starting operations. According to the carrier, it’ll receive the remaining 199 jets over the next seven years.

Presently, Akasa Air flies to 22 domestic and five international destinations, including Riyadh, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. To date, it has served more than 15 million passengers. With more aircraft on the way, the airline will surely expand its network within and outside its home country.
