In December last year, Malaysia Airlines, part of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), received its first Airbus A330-900 aircraft. Since then, three more aeroplanes of the same type have joined the airline’s fleet. The delivered aircraft were part of a 20-jet order that Malaysia’s flag carrier placed in 2022.
Since MAG feels that the aircraft in question delivers “the right balance of operational efficiency, range, and cabin comfort to support our network and growth strategy” and “is a strong fit” for its market, it has inked another firm order for twenty more Airbus A330-900s. Simple math reveals that the new deal doubles Malaysia Airlines’ order book for the A330neo to 40, of which four have been delivered. The aeroplanes are already in service, ferrying people and cargo from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne, Auckland, and Bali.
Courtesy of the state-of-the-art Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the Airbus A330-900 can fly up to 7,200 nautical miles (13,300 km) without making a fuel stop. A new lighting system, larger overhead storage, more spacious seating, and the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity solutions make the aircraft a great fit, regardless of the sector in which it operates. And because of that versatility, Airbus has secured more than 1,800 orders for the A330 Family aircraft from over 130 operators worldwide.
