The largest Greek carrier, AEGEAN, has disclosed a new order for eight more Airbus A321neo aircraft. The latest order brings the airline’s total direct order book with the European manufacturer to 60 A320neo Family jets, of which 37 have been delivered. The additional aircraft ordered will help the carrier strengthen and grow its network.
AEGEAN is betting on the larger-capacity and extended-range version of the A321neo. Soon, two-thirds of the total fleet will account for such aircraft type, confirms the airline’s CEO, Dimitris Gerogiannis.
The A321neo is the largest member of the A320neo Family. Thanks to its new-generation engines and aerodynamics, the aircraft offers over 20 percent fuel savings and a reduction in CO2 emissions over its predecessor. As with all Airbus aircraft, the A321neo can operate with up to 50 percent SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). The manufacturer aims to have that figure jump to 100 percent by the decade’s end.
