The second week of July 2026 saw Nissan host the world premiere of its all-new compact SUV called the new Nissan Tekton. The global unveiling took place in Mumbai, India, which reinforces India’s growing role in Nissan’s future. The Cornea Impression was invited by Nissan Middle East for the Tekton’s world premiere. Here are our first impressions of the new Nissan Tekton – a full walkaround of its exteriors, interiors and practicality. Why did Nissan host the global launch of the Tekton in India?
Nissan ranks India highly as both a growth market and strategic export hub. The Nissan Tekton will be developed and manufactured in India. Built in partnership with Renault and manufactured at the French carmaker’s plant in Chennai, the Nissan Tekton has been designed for Indian customers while delivering the quality, capability and competitiveness required for global markets.
India will help Nissan’s growth across markets and regions. Utilising the subcontinent as an export hub, the model will be exported to 50 global markets across the Middle East and Africa. Speaking at the world premiere, Guillaume Cartier, Chief Performance Officer, Nissan, said: “We are building a stronger and more competitive Nissan in India. What features can be found on the new Nissan Tekton?
The New Nissan Tekton comes brimmed with comfort and convenient features. It gets a dual-screen layout consisting of a digital speedometer and an infotainment running on Android OS. Furthermore, Nissan has integrated Google features built-in, such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play. It also gets a host of driver assisted systems and connected services, designed to make driving smarter and safer.
On the aspect of comfort, the new Nissan Tekton boasts a spacious cabin. This gets paired with a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a spacious rear bench with generous legroom, rear-ac vents, multiple USB Type-C charging ports and a wireless charger as well.
What engines are available on the Tekton?
Globally, the Nissan Tekton will be available with two engine options – a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol. Though, the UAE will most likely be getting only the latter – the 1.3-litre turbo petrol producing 160hp and 280Nm torques. While globally, there are multiple gearbox options available as well, but the UAE-spec Nissan Tekton will most likely be offered with a 6-speed DCT gearbox.
