ENVI Paje Zanzibar has opened on the white sands of Paje Beach. This intimate lodge is ENVI Lodges’ third property in Tanzania. It holds just 22 villas. The idea is simple. Slow right down, and when the wind picks up, chase a little adventure.

What is ENVI Paje Zanzibar?

ENVI Paje Zanzibar is a wellness-led retreat built to sit lightly on its setting. The design leans on sustainable materials, natural textures and Zanzibari craftsmanship. Light and space do most of the talking. The mood is barefoot, not formal. The scale also stays small on purpose, so the beach never feels crowded. Guests shape each day as they wish. For some, that means stillness under a palm. For others, it means learning something new on the water.

Where is Paje Beach in Zanzibar?

Paje sits on Zanzibar’s south-eastern shore. It is a laid-back village known for shallow lagoons, steady trade winds and soft white sand. The beach also moves with the tides. At low water, wide sandbanks appear. Then, at high tide, it returns as a calm, swimmable lagoon. That rhythm shapes the day here. It is part of what has made Paje one of the most talked-about coasts in East Africa.

What are the villas like at ENVI Paje?

The lodge has 22 villas, 15 of which have a private pool. The range runs from garden to oceanfront. At the smaller end sit the Garden Villas, each a calm retreat of 49 square metres. The two-bedroom Grand Ocean Villa is the flagship, at 150 square metres. In between, the Signature Ocean Villas stand out, since each pairs an indoor pool with an outdoor one, steps from the sand. Every villa also has a private terrace and a fire pit. Local hands finish the interiors, so a strong sense of place carries through.

What is AFYA, ENVI Paje’s wellness philosophy?

Wellbeing at ENVI Paje follows a signature philosophy called AFYA. It blends ancient African botanical wisdom with evidence-based science. The journey begins at The Sanctuary, the lodge’s spa. First, a short insight session reads a guest’s balance, recovery and energy. Then a therapist maps a tailored plan for the stay. The menu runs wide. It takes in Swahili-inspired botanical treatments. Modern recovery therapies also include hyperbaric oxygen and red light, as well as cold plunge and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy.

The resident botanist makes the balms and oils in-house. The herbs and spices grow in the ENVI Garden, so guests can even join her for a balm-making workshop. Days settle into a gentle balance of movement and rest. Sunrise yoga, breathwork, sound healing, and ocean-floating meditation all feature. So does a playful strength circuit set among the trees.

Can you kitesurf at ENVI Paje?

Yes, and it is a major reason travellers seek out Paje. The lagoon is shallow, warm and reliably windy. So, it ranks among the finest places in the world to learn. Seasoned riders still get room to push. ENVI Paje Zanzibar runs its own kitesurfing school, with certified local instructors leading sessions for every level. Guests can therefore start from scratch, just a short walk from their villa.

The water offers more than the kite, too. There is SUP yoga, kayaking, diving and snorkelling over vivid reefs. Back on land, the island opens up. Cooking classes celebrate Zanzibar’s spices, while a Swahili tea-and-golden-milk ritual slows the pace. Beyond the lodge, excursions reach Stone Town, the spice farms and Jozani Forest, home to the rare red colobus monkey.

What is dining like at FLŌ?

Meals centre on FLŌ, the signature restaurant at ENVI Paje Zanzibar. The cooking is whole, seasonal and rooted in Swahili heritage. The kitchen sources almost everything locally, from ocean-fresh seafood to island produce. Breakfast is also designed with intent. Its dishes follow a set sequence, which helps the body absorb nutrients steadily and keeps energy on an even keel. Service then spills onto a breezy terrace. Alongside it, the Mixology Bar pours drinks with a purpose. Each one blends botanicals, adaptogens and local flavours. Guests can also learn the craft at a functional mixology workshop.

How do you get to ENVI Paje?

Zanzibar is more reachable than it looks. The lodge is around an hour by road from Zanzibar International Airport. Direct flights arrive from Europe. For the Gulf, flydubai flies direct from Dubai, while Etihad Airways will soon add its own route. So, most guests face just one flight and a short transfer.

What is the First 100 opening offer?

To mark the opening, ENVI Paje has set aside a privilege for its first 100 bookings. It weaves a bespoke wellness journey through the stay. Book four nights or more, and the fourth night is free. That perk then repeats up to twelve nights. There is also a gift, namely a further night at any ENVI lodge opening in 2026 or 2027. The code FIRST100 unlocks it at checkout, subject to availability.
