Cadillac Targets Le Mans Triumph with Three-Car line-up in 2026

Cadillac returns to Le Mans in 2026 with three V-Series.R prototypes, a strong driver line-up, and sharpened aerodynamics aiming to chase Hypercar glory at the Circuit de la Sarthe.

Why does Cadillac’s 2026 Le Mans return matter?

Cadillac is a flagship luxury division of General Motors, founded in 1902 in Detroit, showcasing traditional American luxury to the world for more than a century.

However, in the past two Decades, Cadillac gradually rebranded itself as one of the leading manufacturers in performance vehicles, with its sporty, driver-focused CTS-V and ATS-V models taking the fight straight to European high-hitters.

During its rebranding into more performance focused image Racing became a vital strategic tool, showcasing its ability to build high-performance Race machines. Endurance racing and the 24 Hours of Le Mans became a significant part in Cadillac’s quest to make its name in the world of motorsports.

Cadillac’s return to the 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, scheduled June 13-14 at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France, is significant because it represents the American manufacturer’s relentless pursuit in claiming the top spot at one of the most prestigious race events in the world.

How did Cadillac perform at Le Mans last year(2025)?

Cadillac’s last Le Mans outing with its V-Series.R prototypes was an important benchmark for the program, as the manufacturer showed strong one-lap pace, locking up the front row – a first for an American manufacturer since 1967. While in the race, the leading Cadillac finished a respectable 5th overall, underlying a strong technical potential for the American Hypercar among the already established European giants.

What is Cadillac bringing to Le Mans this year?

For the 2026 challenge, Cadillac is fielding three factory-backed V-Series .R hypercars. No. 12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R driven by Will Stevens, Norman Nato, and Louis Deletraz; the No. 38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R shared by Sebastien Bourdais, Earl Bamber, and Jack Aitken; and the No. 101 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R with Ricky Taylor, Jordan Taylor, and Filipe Albuquerque.

The Cadillac driver lineup is an enviable one, featuring multiple winners and trophy holders, combined with raw speed and proven Le Mans pedigree.

What makes the 2026 package different?

Learning from its strong 2025 outing, Cadillac has worked on its aero configuration, featuring reworked aerodynamic components designed to improve lap times while stuck in traffic, a critical factor at the busy 24 Hours of Le Mans, where every lap encounters cars from slower categories.

For this year we redesigned the aero package to improve our ability to follow cars closely with less loss of downforce than the previous aero package. We also changed brake supplier which aligns with what is used on our CT5-V Blackwing road cars.” – Jeromy Moore, Chief Engineer – Cadillac LMDh

How deep is Cadillac’s endurance-racing history?

Cadillac’s endurance-racing history runs much deeper than the current Hypercar project. The American brand first appeared at Le Mans in 1950 through privateer teams featuring the famous “Le Monstre”, a low-slung, redesigned Cadillac Series 61.

Through the early 2000s, Cadillac made its mark more prominent in the Endurance scene with strong Prototype showings in North America through the CTS-V.R, ATS-V.R, and DPi-V.R programs.

Where does Cadillac stand in modern endurance racing?

Years later, Cadillac now stands as one of the most recognisable American manufacturers in endurance racing. In 2017, Cadillac introduced its most successful endurance racing platform, the DPi-V.R prototype, which swept 27 victories before retiring in 2022.

The V-Series.R platform took over the baton, carrying the same momentum built by DPi-V.R  into the new convergence era, winning the IMSA GTP Manufacturer Championship and the IMSA Endurance Cup in 2023.The Cadillac V-Series.R’s highest-ever Le Mans finish was a 3rd place in 2023.

In 2025, Cadillac achieved a monumental result in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) by becoming the first U.S. manufacturer to record a 1-2 finish in the top-level Hypercar class at São Paulo.

What to expect from Cadillac at the 94th Edition of Le Mans?

Ever since it stepped into the WEC and especially at Le Mans, Cadillac has shown respectable raw one-lap speed, which it often struggled to turn into glory during the course of an enduring 24 hours.

As for 2026, Cadillac, according to Cadillac’s Chief Engineer, Jeromy Moore, has focused its engineering prowess on bringing down the lap times while stuck in traffic during the course of the 24 hours. While also focusing on Strategy, tyre management, traffic handling, and night-running reliability.
