First Vision BMW ALPINA Concept Showcased at Villa d’Este 2026 Ahead of Next Era of the Brand

The Vision BMW ALPINA concept hints at the future of the ALPINA brand under BMW Group with its emphasis on luxury, comfort, and high-performance design.

What Is the Vision BMW ALPINA?

The BMW Group presented its new Vision BMW ALPINA concept car at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2026 as the first design study that hints at the future of the ALPINA brand. The concept represents the first significant step from the BMW Group following the acquisition of ALPINA in 2026.

The concept car integrates classic ALPINA design elements along with fresh exterior and interior designs prepared for future production cars. According to BMW, the new concept car reflects the company’s dedication to high-speed touring and passenger comfort.

The Vision BMW ALPINA has a length of 5,200 mm and features a long-roofed four-seater coupe body.

What are the Design Elements of the Vision BMW ALPINA?

The exterior design features a number of traditional ALPINA elements, but in simplified form to make the vehicle appear more contemporary. The front part features a reinvention of the iconic BMW shark nose and kidney grilles, whereas the “speed feature line” extends from the front bumper all the way back.

Other traditional elements of the ALPINA model line are also present, including the deco-line, which is now featured under the paintwork. Also included are the famous four-pipe exhaust system and multi-spoke alloy wheels that measure 22 inches at the front and 23 inches at the back.

The lighting features warm-white daytime running lights, while the grille is illuminated. Finally, BMW has used styling cues from classic BMW cars, like the BMW 507, and added polished metal and dark metallic elements.

What is the Power of Vision BMW ALPINA?

BMW confirmed that the car comes with V8 engine technology, but it has not yet disclosed its technical specifications, such as horsepower, torque, acceleration, and top speed.

The company stated that the powertrain has been optimised to produce an exhaust sound similar to that of other ALPINA cars. The lack of official data means there is currently no performance specification for BMW Vision ALPINA.

It comes with ALPINA’s Comfort+ drive mode, which focuses on delivering a comfortable ride experience during long-distance drives. BMW described this approach as a core part of the brand’s DNA ever since it competed in endurance races.

How Different is the interior of Vision BMW ALPINA?

The interior design of Vision BMW ALPINA employs layered architectural design rather than conventional BMW interiors. It has a BMW Panoramic iDrive across its dashboard with a passenger display featuring ALPINA-specific interface themes.

Its materials include full-grain leather from suppliers in the Alpine region, crystal-finished controls, a brushed metal finish, and open-pore wood. Its interior decoration draws inspiration from ALPINA’s heritage, with colour accents of blue and green.

The rear seats are also complemented by luxury features, such as crystal glass and automatic storage compartments in the centre console.

Why Does BMW Bring Back ALPINA as an Independent Brand?

The company ALPINA was established in 1965 by Burkard Bovensiepen in Buchloe, Germany, as a tuning and engineering company specialising in BMW automobiles. Later, ALPINA began manufacturing high-speed, luxury touring cars with powerful engines, advanced suspension, and an exclusive interior design.

The acquisition of the ALPINA brand by the BMW Group was completed in 2026; thus, ALPINA is being positioned by the company as a brand between BMW regular cars and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in its luxury product line.

According to BMW, the first production car from the ALPINA brand will appear next year and will be based on the BMW 7 Series.

The Bavarian Company has no information on the Vision BMW Alpina price, production, or market availability, as it is a concept car. However, the first production-based BMW ALPINA car will be revealed in 2027. The future BMW ALPINA luxury sedans are expected to cost more than the regular BMW flagship sedans, possibly exceeding $150,000.
