What is the News?
Italian motorcycle marque Ducati has unveiled a new model to its Hypermotard line-up, dubbed the Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera. The Mono Nera model features a distinct blacked-out livery with red accents and a special homologated Termignoni twin exhaust.
What exactly is the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera?
The Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera is a new iteration of Ducati’s Hypermotard 698 Mono, introduced as a fresh new variant of the lineup. It is a more aggressive iteration of the Hypermotard; the Nera is designed to stand out not only through appearance but also through subtle mechanical tweaks, such as the introduction of homologated Termignoni Twin exhaust.
What is new in the design?
The Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera doesn’t depart from its core design philosophy explicitly; however, Ducati has draped the Hypermotard with a menacing all-black Nera livery, accentuating a stealthy yet aggressive appearance. The addition of Termignoni twin exhaust and red wheels further intensifies the aggressive design.
What hardware and technology does the Nera bring to the table?
The Nera carries over the technical package of the standard Hypermotard 698 Mono. This included a lightweight trellis frame and a lightweight double-sided swingarm. On the electronics side, the Nero incorporates Ducati Quick Shift, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control, launch control and cornering ABS.
Does the Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera get any engine changes?
No, the Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera continues to be powered by Ducati’s marvellous 659 cc Superquadro Mono single-cylinder engine, the world’s most powerful road-going single-cylinder engine derived from the twin-cylinder engine of the 1299 Panigale.
The Superquadro engine, in its standard form, is capable of producing 77.5 hp and a peak engine speed of 10,250 rpm, a benchmark for single-cylinder engines.
