RØDE announces Sonaura, RØDELink II and more for professional creators

• RØDE has introduced Sonaura, a new studio-grade MEMS microphone technology created in collaboration with Infineon. • The company also revealed the RØDELink II professional UHF wireless microphone system, which features 32-bit float on-board recording. • RØDE will display these new products and accessories at the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

What is Sonaura technology?

RØDE developed Sonaura as a studio-grade MEMS microphone technology. The company collaborated with Infineon to manufacture this specific component. RØDE leadership views this technology as a significant engineering achievement that pushes past previous size and performance limits in audio capture.

The design incorporates Infineon’s Sealed Dual Membrane technology. Consequently, this specific design reduces sensitivity to physical shock and increases environmental durability. Furthermore, Sonaura withstands high sound pressure levels and resists radio-frequency interference.

The first product to feature Sonaura will be the L1 sub-miniature lavalier microphone from Lectrosonics. Afterwards, RØDE plans to integrate the technology across more products in the wider Freedman Group lineup.

What are the technical specifications of Sonaura?

RØDE engineered the Sonaura MEMS microphone technology with precise technical specifications. The unit measures just four millimetres by five millimetres. Furthermore, it delivers a signal-to-noise ratio of 83 decibels. The device also maintains a low self-noise level of 11 A-weighted decibels. Additionally, RØDE built the core of the Sonaura MEMS microphone technology on a newly developed low-noise ASIC. Finally, it utilises Infineon’s Sealed Dual Membrane design to ensure consistent performance.

What features does the RØDELink II offer?

The RØDELink II professional UHF wireless microphone system serves filmmakers and broadcasters. It uses proprietary UHF wireless transmission technology. Additionally, it draws on Lectrosonics’ engineering background to maintain signal stability in challenging radio-frequency environments.

The system includes two transmitters and one receiver. Therefore, this setup allows users to record two sound sources simultaneously. In addition, each transmitter pairs with a lavalier microphone that uses secure locking connectors.

A key feature of the RØDELink II professional UHF wireless microphone system is its 32-bit float on-board recording capability. Users can record audio directly to a microSD card, which helps prevent audio clipping in loud environments. The system also provides a dedicated timecode input and output port. As a result, users can align audio and video files efficiently during post-production.

RØDE houses the components of the RØDELink II professional UHF wireless microphone system in a rugged metal body to withstand the rigours of location recording. Furthermore, the complete package includes three removable lithium-ion batteries and a travel case.

What other accessories did RØDE announce?

Alongside Sonaura and the RØDELink II professional UHF wireless microphone system, RØDE introduced several new studio accessories. These items include the LPA1 low-profile studio arm, the DS3 desktop studio arm, and the PodMic Flag branding tool. The company also announced the RØDECaster Studio podcast app, developed by the RØDE AI Lab.

Additionally, RØDE is launching a new range of audio and timecode cables. These cables include 3.5mm TRS-to-5-Pin and 3.5mm TRS-to-BNC timecode cables with locking connectors. The company will also release 3.5mm TRS-to-XLRM and XLRM Splitter cables. Consequently, users can reliably connect audio sources to professional recording devices.
