What is the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 45mm x Formula 1?

A new version of TAG Heuer’s Connected or smart watch, it captures the adrenaline-fueled world of Formula 1 on the wearer’s wrist. In addition to its regular Connected watch features (described below), its integrated Formula 1 app serves as a direct link to the F1 championship. A dedicated entry in the watch menu provides access to the season calendar, Grand Prix race schedules, race results, and driver and team standings. Smart widgets deliver “key updates instantly” without having to open the app. The wearer remains “connected to the championship at every moment.”

The display on the header image shows a three-register chronograph, similar to the brand’s actual chronographs.

The black crown is made from steel and features black rubber. The two shaped push-buttons at 2 and 4 o’clock are made from black DLC coated steel and feature red lacquer. The black and red details of the case and strap create a visually striking contrast. The strap is interchangeable.

Yes. It is made from black DLC coated Grade-2 titanium with a brushed and sandblasted finish. It measures 45 mm (diameter). The black polished ceramic bezel features Formula 1 phases engravings. Dial side features a flat sapphire crystal. Caseback is made from black DLC coated Grade-2 titanium. Water resistant up to 50 metres. Watch comes with a bi-material strap featuring F1 colour codes with a black leather and carbon pattern, a black rubber base and red stitching. It is fitted with a black DLC coated steel folding clasp with double-safety push-buttons.

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 45mm x Formula 1® Edition in its presentation box. — Image: A super cool interpretation of the brand’s Connected watch. A must have for motorsport enthusiasts.

Connected or smart watches are here to stay. They do not (necessarily) compete with mechanical (and quartz) watches, despite what critics say. Ideally, they exist alongside each other. In my opinion, TAG Heuer’s Connected watches is one of very few examples (perhaps the only one) where a large brand with a rich horological history has its own smart watch range.

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 45mm x Formula 1® Edition excels by infusing the brand’s motorsport heritage – literally second to none – in this latest Connected watch. For those who love Formula 1, whether watch collectors or not, this watch is for them.
